Senior IT Analyst -Application Development C++
Position Overview
A member of Application Development and Support team, responsibilities include in-house transition and knowledge acquisition of the central business critical application. Role requires close interaction with offshore development team in terms of understanding of the software at a architecture, design, code and deployment levels. The role also requires extending the application functionally catering to the firms need in terms of point releases. The individuals would also play a critical role in providing 2nd Level application support for already deployed 35 + and upcoming applications in a fast paced 24 x 5 environment. The support will entail understanding, setup, maintenance, troubleshooting and performance tuning on all the applications.
Details
50% understanding current under development business application and create requisite documentation, frameworks and processes which would be required in extending and supporting it. Incident management and escalation, problem management, communication with the offshore development team for any problems related to this application. 30% bespoke development (extending the transitioned application) – requirement gathering, requirement analysis, software design and architecture, development, integration and testing, global deployment. 10% improving the existing applications by code documentation, functional improvements and re-design and corresponding development. 10% follow-up with clients as part of the customer care program, contribution to continuous enhancement of development and deployment processes, tools and communication
Desired Skills
Must have
Windows C++ GUI development / MFC C ++
Using CodeGear RAD Studio 2007 (v6 is acceptable)
Exposure to third party Borland components DevExpress, SDAC, zLib and Quick Reports
Experience of Java for Blackberry client (using RIM JDE) and Blackberry Middle-Tier
Exposure to 3 tier architectures, distributed programming, code reviewing tools and web/application servers e.g. Apache/Tomcat, Websphere/ Weblogic etc.
Experience of Bug tracking applications, such as Jira, Bugzilla
Experience of source control tools such as Subversion, CVS
Development experience knowledge of SQL Server 2005/2008
Exposure XML, XSLT, HTML , SQL
Solid interpersonal and communication skills
Fluent written and verbal English language skills
The ability to work both independently and in project teams in a remote team setting
Nice to have skills
Hands on development knowledge C# & ASP .net
Experience in developing groupware/workflow applications around MS Exchange 2003
Sound knowledge of data structures and algorithms
Sound knowledge of VB .net, VBA, Java Script & ODBC
Exposure to Rational Requisite Pro/ Rational Unified Process
Experience in using VS .net 2005 / 2008
Education/Background/Training
Education in Information Technology or closely related technology area (Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field / MCA)
Overall work experience of 3-5 years with at least 2 + years of experience in software design and development with C++
