Senior Database Administrator
Description
Senior Database Administrator will be responsible for providing back end application support for client’s core business systems as well as infrastructure components like Blackberry, SMS and MOM. The support will include the design, maintenance, troubleshooting and performance tuning on all DBMS including back-up and storage management.
Role and Responsibilities
Duties include:

Technical and functional knowledge mastery of client database applications, data flows and business usages

Evaluating architectures of client database systems against best practices and industry standards

Advanced support for the client database infrastructure – incident and problem management, troubleshooting and proactive potential problem identification

Database development and partner in continued application development and support process development
Details

Master SQL Server environment from a support and future enhancements perspective. Work with developers to understand the technical and functional details to create documentation.

Provide 2nd/3rd level support for client SQL Server environment including incident management and escalations, problem management, communication with internal customers for database related problems.

Direct ongoing performance tuning of client applications, including the design and development of database systems.

Perform trend analysis and capacity management reporting with IT leadership and team members

Lead DB team involvement in client customer care program including continuous enhancement of helpdesk processes, tools and communication.
Position Requirements
- 5+ years experience as a Microsoft SQL Server database administrator with significant SQL Server 2008/2005 24/7 availability production experience
- Experience with SQL Server 64 bit architecture
- SQL Server Clustering (Active/Passive), Resource Groups, Failback strategies
- SQL Replication technologies (Peer to Peer) & Merge
- Transaction Log Shipping
- SQL Database mirroring
- 5+ years as a Transact SQL programmer with experience of analyzing execution plans
- Hands-on support of VLDB environment, including, but not limited to, monitoring, re-indexing, general database maintenance, extract-transformation-load, backup/recovery, documentation, and configuration in a 7x24 high availability server environment
- Automating, maintaining, and updating ongoing operational processes
- Thorough knowledge of the Windows 2003 and 2008 server 64 bit operating systems
- Script creation and maintenance for database design and implementation.
- Perform system optimization and continuous improvement planning including SQL Server database performance analysis, capacity planning, system sizing and ongoing maintenance/tuning
- Experience in design and implementation of security policies
- Project management experience involving highly complex implementations
- Experience as a programmer in Borland C or C#.NET technologies is a definite plus
- Experience with DataFlux, Quest products like LiteSpeed and Spotlight and RedGate tools is a plus
- Organized with the proven ability to work effectively within a global team construct
- Highly motivated, goal oriented self-starter with a firm commitment to deliverables and deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Education & Certification
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline
- Microsoft Certified SQL Database Administrator
Location: New York, New York
Compensation: $100,000 - $120,000
